FAQ - Basics About the Electronic-Cigarette

General, Common and Frequently Asked Questions about Electronic-Cigarettes.

Is an E-Cig Safer to Smoke Than Traditional Tobacco Cigarettes?

Traditional tobacco cigarettes have been tested and found to contain more than 4,000 toxins and carcinogens. Some of the nastier toxins include tar, benzene (found in gasoline), pesticides, and formaldehyde (an embalming chemical) to name a few. E-cigs do not have tar, don’t produce smoke, and the only reason the vapor mist can be seen is the propylene glycol solution that is included in order to give the smoker the look and feel of smoking. The end result is that you can enjoy smoking without ingesting the many dangerous chemicals found in traditional tobacco.

What do electronic cigarettes taste like?

Most brands offer a variety of flavors. Some of the most popular include: Tobacco, Menthol, Coffee, Chocolate, Vanilla,Strawberry and Cherry. If you're coming from smoking traditional cigarettes the tobacco or menthol flavors will give you an experience closest to what you're used to. Each brand's flavors are slightly different.

Can Electronic Cigarettes Be Used To Quit Smoking?

Electronic cigarettes have not been approved as smoking cessation devices in the United States. However, most brands offer varying levels of nicotine cartridges all the way down to 0mg and so they have been used to quit smoking by a lot of people, including me.

Who Uses Electronic Cigarettes and why do people use them?

The majorities of electronic cigarette users are, or were, tobacco smokers. Because the e cigarette delivers nicotine to the body and produces vapor which can be inhaled, it provides similar tactile and physical sensations to those commonly associated with smoking. This is why the e cigarette is often used as an alternative to smoking by those who enjoy smoking.

Who should not use an Electronic Cigarette and why should they not use them?

Anyone under 18 years old. Also, until you've consulted a GP about the safety of using products that contain nicotine, avoid using e cigarettes if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or suffer from any of the following conditions:
• Heart disease
• High blood pressure
• A weak or impaired immune system
• An allergy to nicotine or products which contain nicotine

Who can purchase electronic cigarettes?

Most retailers require that you be over 18 years of age because they do contain tobacco. The Electronic Cigarette is not recommended or sold to adolescence.

Electronic Cigarettes are products which allow the user to vaporize liquid, usually water based (with other ingredients), laced with nicotine. The result allows one to inhale "smoke" that feels similar to the act of smoking tobacco cigarettes, and get one's nicotine absorption in the process.

The battery is triggered when sucked on. The combination of the battery being on, and the forward motion of sucking, heats up the "atomizer" which has a wick and coil. The unique heater that the atomizer is, can take liquid on the wick and transform it into tiny particles which become vapor. That is then inhaled like traditional cigarette smoke.

The multiple angles mimicking traditional smoking such as inhaling, handling a unit similar in shape and length to a tobacco cigarette, exhaling and seeing vapor, and absorption of nicotine are usually pleasing to tobacco cigarette smokers, in a way that leads them to choose smoking e-cigarettes over tobacco ones.
